Ballad Poem

Slavery Ballad Poem

Slaves were owned by whites
Many would try to run away in the night
They would pick up cotton in the light

Slaves would have to follow the code
Harriet Tubman lead the underground railroad
Blacks were punished and it showed

Slaves were hurt outside and within
There labor work got cut off by using the cotton gin
Whites did everything so there full of sin

Aboltionist hated slavery
Many blacks standed up for them selfs they had bravery
Slaves had to live in misery

Slaves couldn't be in groups
Many had to live under the same roof
Slaves wanted to be equal and thats one of there truths
